Fishing
The Tagus River has always provided both food and relaxation for those skilled in the art of fishing.
Fishing has been part of the history of the inhabitants of Monfragüe since time immemorial, and still is an important activity today. In recent decades, traditional fishing styles been joined by new methods, also for the capture of new species (several of them invasive), and more and more fishermen come to Serradilla to spend their days on the River Tagus, the Alcántara II reservoir and surroundings, fishing either from the shore or from boats with or without motor.
This section of the Tagus contains numerous fish species including carp, catfish, pike-perch, pike, black-bass, and alburno, to name but a few.
The main fishing areas are around the bridge over the Tagus River on the CC-29.6 road and the La Barca area. If you decide to visit, don't forget to collect everything you have brought along. Conservation is the responsibility of all of us.
