Route 6 - Villarreal Road
This is the longest of the routes presented here, and joins the town of Serradilla with the district of Villarreal de San Carlos.
Passing through an immense Mediterranean mountain landscape interspersed with small cultivated areas and pine forests, it crosses various streams like the Barbaón, and, almost at the end of the route, the Malvecino, before reaching the destination. Route 6 coincides with the Cerro Gimio Route.
This is a long route across a varied landscape, thus allowing for the observation of a multitude of species and habitats, with large birds of prey like the black vulture, the imperial eagle, the Benelli’s eagle and the short-toed eagle being the most noteworthy. There are also smaller birds of prey like the goshawk or the hawk, in addition to an endless list of small passerines.
This route passes through a restricted use area of the Monfragüe National Park. For accessing it, it is necessary to request a permit, which can be issued at the Serradilla Tourist Office or the Villarreal de San Carlos Tourist Office.
