Watercraft
Being on the water around Monfragüe, doing sport and enjoying the surroundings from the river: what more could one ask for?
The Tagus River flows through the municipality just 4km south of the urban area. Here you can cruise the Alcántara II Reservoir by watercraft (boats, zodiacs, kayaks, etc.) along several kilometres of the river, and enjoy the surrounding landscape from the water. You can also observe wildlife: mainly large mammals (deer, fallow deer, mouflon and wild boar) and birds common to aquatic environments (black stork, heron, cormorant and kingfisher), and, of course, many other species like otter or fox.
The two main access points to the river are the Camino de la Barca (for boats without a trailer) and the CC-29.6 road that connects Serradilla with the Torrejón el Rubio – Cáceres road junction, which is also suitable for trailer-launched boats, except during periods of exceptionally low water levels.
This section of the Tagus River is navigable from the 1st of August to the 15th of January.
