Tagus River Viewpoints
These viewpoints allow you to enjoy the Tagus River along its narrow passage through Monfragüe and its meadows, with a multitude of fauna species being easily observable.
They are located on the banks of the Tagus, just 4 km south of the urban centre of Serradilla, and are easily accessible due the proximity of the CC-226 provincial highway with its bridge over the Tagus River.
Next to the viewpoints there are large parking areas with ample shade and several well-equipped picnic areas.
These viewpoints allow you to enjoy the Tagus along its narrow passage through Monfragüe and its meadow. Here one can observe a multitude of fauna species native to this type of fluvial ecosystem, including the black stork, royal heron, kingfisher and great cormorant, as well as others that find suitable areas for breeding in the surrounding slate cliffs, like the golden eagle, eagle owl, common kestrel and rock thrush.
It is also common to see species of large mammals such as fallow deer, deer or mouflon that take quiet refuge among the thick holm oaks on the river banks.
There is a large colony of Common House Martins breeding under the road bridge. On summer afternoons they often delight visitors with their trills and aerobatics in search of insects.
