Birdwatching
The great variety of ecosystems that can be found here makes birdwatching one of the main activities of the area.
A short distance from the urban centre of Serradilla one finds a great variety of ecosystems ranging from meadows to forests, crags and riverbanks, all of which are home to a large number and variety of bird species. The most prominent among these include the Iberian imperial eagle, golden eagle, Benelli’s eagle, black stork, black vulture, red kite, peregrine falcon, eagle owl, rock thrush, black wheatear, oriole, and many more.
There is a dunghill within the municipality that offers the possibility of photographing a number of different species like vultures, Egyptian vultures, kites, crows and sometimes large eagles like the imperial or royal eagle. The site can be accessed by requesting the key at the Serradilla Tourist Office.
Depending on the area you decide to visit, you will have a better chance of seeing some species or others. Don’t forget to bring binoculars and a camera on your getaway – you are bound to use them a lot!
